Summary
CVE-2023-40036 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting the free and open-source source code editor, Notepad++. The issue lies in the `CharDistributionAnalysis::HandleOneChar` function, which contains a global buffer read overflow. This vulnerability, present in Notepad++ versions 8.5.6 and earlier, may potentially be exploited to leak internal memory allocation information.
