Summary

CVE-2023-3956 is a vulnerability affecting the InstaWP Connect plugin for WordPress. This issue arises from a missing capability check on the 'events_receiver' function, present in versions up to 0.0.9.18. As a result, unauthenticated attackers are able to manipulate data, including adding, modifying or deleting posts and taxonomies, installing and activating plugins, changing customizer settings, and even adding, modifying, or deleting user accounts, including administrator accounts. This vulnerability poses a significant risk to WordPress sites utilizing the InstaWP Connect plugin and requires immediate attention for patching and updating.
