Summary

CVE-2023-38700 affects the matrix-appservice-irc Node.js IRC bridge for Matrix. Before version 1.0.1, this software was susceptible to a vulnerability that could leak parts of targeted message events from other bridged rooms. To exploit this issue, an attacker needed to know the specific event ID of the message they wanted to access. Version 1.0.1n mitigates this issue with a patch. As a temporary workaround, setting the `matrixHandler.eventCacheSize` config value to 0 can help prevent the leakage of event data, though it may negatively impact performance.
