Summary

CVE-2023-38530 is a newly discovered vulnerability that affects multiple versions of Parasolid (V34.1, V35.0, and V35.1) and Teamcenter Visualization (V14.1, V14.2, and V14.3). The issue stems from an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the handling of X_T files. Specifically, the affected applications fail to check boundaries while parsing these files, leading to potential read past the end of an allocated structure. An attacker can exploit this flaw to execute code in the context of the current process. It is crucial that users of these applications upgrade to the patched versions (V34.1.258, V35.0.254, V35.1.171, V14.1.0.11, V14.2.0.6, and V14.3.0.3) to mitigate this risk.
