Summary
CVE-2023-38495 is a vulnerability affecting Crossplane, a framework for constructing cloud-native control planes without writing code. Prior to versions 1.11.5, 1.12.3, and 1.13.0, Crossplane's image backend fails to validate the byte contents of Crossplane packages. This vulnerability allows an attacker to tamper with packages without detection, posing a risk to the security of the control plane. The issue has been remedied in the aforementioned versions. As a protective measure, it is advised to utilize images from trusted sources and restrict Package editing/creating privileges to administrators only.
