Summary

CVE-2023-38378 is a vulnerability affecting the web interface on RIGOL MSO5000 digital oscilloscopes with firmware 00.01.03.00.03. An attacker can remotely execute arbitrary code by manipulating shell metacharacters in the pass1 parameter of the webcontrol changepwd.cgi application. This issue poses a significant risk as it allows unauthenticated attackers to gain control of the targeted systems. Successful exploitation could lead to unintended system modifications or data exfiltration. Users are advised to update their firmware to mitigate this vulnerability.
