Summary

CVE-2023-38180 is a newly disclosed Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability affecting both .NET and Visual Studio. Maliciously crafted files can trigger an infinite loop, causing the targeted application to consume excessive resources and ultimately crash. This issue can lead to a DoS condition, rendering the application inaccessible to legitimate users until it is restarted. Microsoft is actively working on a patch to mitigate this vulnerability. In the meantime, users are advised to implement network security measures and restrict file uploads from untrusted sources to prevent potential attacks.
