Summary

CVE-2023-38000 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting WordPress versions 6.3 and below, as well as certain older releases from versions 6.2 to 5.9 and the Gutenberg plugin up to version 16.8.0. An attacker can exploit this flaw by injecting malicious scripts into a contributor's post or comment. Successful exploitation could lead to unintended execution of malicious code, potentially resulting in account takeover, information disclosure, or other unintended actions by unsuspecting users. WordPress users are advised to update their installations as soon as possible to address this issue.
