Summary

CVE-2023-37658 is a newly discovered Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the fast-poster software version 2.15.0. The issue lies in the file upload functionality at /server/fast.py, specifically in the ApiUploadHandler.post feature. Instead of strictly checking file suffixes, the code only verifies the binary check of the img file, leading to stored XSS vulnerabilities. Attackers can exploit this flaw by uploading malicious scripts disguised as image files, which can then be executed in the context of the affected website, potentially stealing user data or performing unintended actions.
