Summary

CVE-2023-37472 is a vulnerability affecting the open source business analytics suite, Knowage. The issue stems from the application's handling of user-supplied data in Hibernate queries. An attacker can craft malicious HQL queries that disrupt subsequent SQL queries, leading to SQL injection in the backend database. Specifically, the `_countBIObjects_` method of the `_BIObjectDAOHibImpl_` object is susceptible to this issue when processing the `_label_` parameter without sanitization. This vulnerability allows an authenticated attacker with low privileges to potentially access sensitive information, such as account credentials or confidential business data. The vulnerability has been addressed in version 8.1.8, and users are strongly advised to upgrade to mitigate this risk. No known workarounds exist for this issue.
