Summary

CVE-2023-36955 is a newly identified stack overflow vulnerability affecting TOTOLINK CP300+ routers with firmware version V5.2cu.7594_B20200910 or before. This issue is caused by an error in the UploadCustomModule function, which fails to properly handle large input in the File parameter. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by crafting a specially crafted file and uploading it to the affected device, leading to a stack overflow condition and potential code execution. This could result in unauthorized access, data theft, or denial of service attacks. Users are strongly advised to update their firmware as soon as a patch becomes available.
