Summary

CVE-2023-36819 is a vulnerability affecting the Knowage business analytics suite, specifically versions prior to 8.1.8 in the 6.x.x branch. The issue lies in the `/_knowage/restful-services/dossier/importTemplateFile_` endpoint which allows authenticated users to download templates, but fails to sanitize the `_templateName_` parameter. Attackers can exploit this by using `*../*` in the parameter, allowing them to navigate and download any file from the system. This vulnerability poses a risk for exfiltrating sensitive configuration files, making it essential for users to update to the patched version, 8.1.8.
