Summary

CVE-2023-36640 is a vulnerability affecting multiple Fortinet products, including FortiProxy, FortiPAM, and FortiOS. This issue arises due to the use of externally-controlled format strings in these versions. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending specially crafted commands, allowing them to execute unauthorized code or issue commands, resulting in potential security breaches. Affected versions include FortiProxy 7.2.0 through 7.2.4, 7.0.0 through 7.0.10, 2.0.0 through 2.0.13, 1.2.0 through 1.2.13, 1.1.0 through 1.1.6, 1.0.0 through 1.0.7, FortiPAM 1.0.0 through 1.0.3, FortiOS 7.2.0, 6.4.0 through 6.4.14, 6.2.0 through 6.2.15, and 6.0.0 through 6.0.16.
