Summary

CVE-2023-36486 is a vulnerability affecting the workflow-engine of ILIAS versions before 7.23 and 8 before 8.3. This issue grants remote authenticated users the ability to execute arbitrary system commands on the application server, exploiting the vulnerability through uploading a maliciously named workflow definition file. Successful exploitation could result in significant security risks, as the commands are run under the application user credentials. This vulnerability poses a serious threat and requires immediate attention and patching from ILIAS users.
