Summary

CVE-2023-36479 is a vulnerability affecting Eclipse Jetty's CgiServlet in specific versions of the Canonical Repository. If a user sends a maliciously crafted request with a binary name containing a quotation mark followed by a space, the servlet will inadvertently execute multiple commands instead of one. This arises due to the servlet's handling of such input, which results in unexpected tokenization when interpreting the command line. The issue was addressed with patches in versions 9.4.52, 10.0.16, 11.0.16, and 12.0.0-beta2.
