Summary

CVE-2023-36468 is a vulnerability affecting the XWiki Platform, a wiki solution with runtime services for applications. When upgrading an XWiki installation, a previously fixed document vulnerability can be exploited if the upgraded version's URL contains `rev=1.1`. This vulnerability, which can impact confidentiality, integrity, and availability, can be demonstrated with ease, as seen with CVE-2022-36100. The vulnerability also impacts manually added script macros that contain older security vulnerabilities. The issue does not affect fresh installations or content solely from the current document version, such as wiki macros or UI extensions. This vulnerability has been remedied in XWiki 14.10.7 and 15.2RC1 by restricting the execution of old revisions. A workaround involves manually deleting old revisions or using a script to identify and delete the history of all installed documents. However, this approach may overlook corrected code and affected documents.
