Summary

CVE-2023-36419 is an elevation of privilege vulnerability affecting the Apache Oozie Workflow Scheduler in Azure HDInsight. An attacker can exploit this XML External Entity (XXE) weakness to gain unauthorized access to sensitive information or execute arbitrary code, potentially leading to a significant security breach. This vulnerability allows an attacker to inject and execute malicious XML entities, bypassing access control mechanisms and posing a threat to the confidentiality and integrity of data processed by the HDInsight cluster. It is strongly recommended that affected organizations apply the available patch to mitigate this risk.
