Summary

CVE-2023-36193 is a newly identified vulnerability affecting the Gifsicle image processing tool, version 1.9.3. This issue involves a heap buffer overflow within the ambiguity_error component located at /src/clp.c. An attacker could potentially exploit this vulnerability by crafting a specially designed GIF image that, when processed by Gifsicle, would trigger the buffer overflow and allow arbitrary code execution. This could result in serious consequences, including data theft, system crashes, or even complete system compromise. It is recommended that users update to the latest version of Gifsicle as soon as possible to mitigate this risk.
