Summary

CVE-2023-34831 is a vulnerability affecting the Submission Web Form of Turnitin's Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) tool or plugin version 1.3. This issue allows attackers to inject malicious HTML code into the form through the "id" and "title" HTTP POST parameters. As a result, students submitting reports for similarity checks are at risk of encountering malicious scripts or content, potentially leading to privacy violations or other security threats. The Turnitin team has been notified and is encouraged to update to a newer, more secure version of the tool to mitigate this vulnerability.
