Summary

CVE-2023-34461 is a vulnerability affecting PyBB, an open-source bulletin board system. Malicious users with posting privileges could exploit this issue by submitting malicious HTML tags, such as `<a>` tags, which could run client-side JavaScript code. For instance, `<a href=javascript:alert (1)>xss</a>` could be used for cross-site scripting attacks. The vulnerability has been patched in commit `5defd92`, and users are strongly advised to upgrade to the latest version, 0.1.1. Interim measures, such as disabling post creation or manually validating links, may be considered for those unable to upgrade immediately.
