Summary

CVE-2023-34455 is a vulnerability affecting snappy-java, a fast compressor/decompressor for Java, prior to version 1.1.10.1. Due to an unchecked chunk length in the function hasNextChunk of fileSnappyInputStream.java, an unrecoverable fatal error can occur. If the compressed variable is null, an incorrectly sized byte array is allocated based on an input value. If a negative number or a large positive value is passed as the chunk size, a NegativeArraySizeException or an OutOfMemoryError, respectively, is triggered. Version 1.1.10.1 includes a patch to resolve this issue.
