Summary

CVE-2023-34194 is a vulnerability affecting TinyXML versions up to 2.6.2. The issue lies in the StringEqual function of TiXmlDeclaration in tinyxmlparser.cpp. A specially crafted XML document with a null character located after whitespace can trigger an assertion and cause the application to exit. This may lead to denial of service or potentially more serious consequences if the application does not properly handle the assertion. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability by supplying malicious XML files to unsuspecting users or systems.
