Summary

CVE-2023-34060: VMware Cloud Director Appliance, upon upgrading to version 10.5 from older versions, experiences an authentication bypass vulnerability. Malicious actors with network access can bypass login restrictions on ports 22 (ssh) and 5480 (appliance management console), but not on port 443 (VCD provider and tenant login). This vulnerability arises due to the affected version of sssd present in the underlying Photon OS. VMware Cloud Director Appliance is impacted until the OS is updated to Photon OS 3 with sssd-2.8.1-11 or higher, or Photon OS 4 and 5 with sssd-2.8.2-9 or higher.
