Summary

CVE-2023-3389 is a use-after-free vulnerability affecting the Linux Kernel io_uring subsystem. This issue can be exploited locally to achieve privilege escalation. The vulnerability is caused by a race condition between a io_uring cancel poll request and a linked timeout, resulting in a use-after-free condition in a hrtimer. To mitigate this issue, it is recommended to upgrade to commit ef7dfac51d8ed961b742218f526bd589f3900a59 for Linux kernel version 5.10 or 0e388fce7aec40992eadee654193cad345d62663 for Linux kernel version 5.15.
