Summary

CVE-2023-33866 is a use-after-free vulnerability affecting Foxit Software's PDF Reader, version 12.1.2.15332. This issue stems from the JavaScript engine, which can be manipulated by a maliciously crafted PDF document. By deleting objects prematurely associated with pages, the engine inadvertently reuses previously freed memory. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code, requiring the user to open the malicious file or visit a specially designed, malicious website with the browser plugin extension enabled.
