Summary

CVE-2023-3180 is a recently disclosed vulnerability affecting the QEMU virtual crypto device. The issue lies within the virtio_crypto_handle_sym_req function, where there is a failure to validate the lengths `src_len` and `dst_len` in virtio_crypto_sym_op_helper. This oversight results in a heap buffer overflow when these lengths differ during data encryption or decryption requests, potentially allowing attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause denial-of-service conditions. Users are encouraged to update their QEMU installations to patch this vulnerability.
