Summary

CVE-2023-3179 is a vulnerability affecting the POST SMTP Mailer plugin for WordPress. Before version 2.5.7, this plugin lacked sufficient Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) protections in certain AJAX actions. An attacker can exploit this issue to manipulate logged-in users with the 'manage_postman_smtp' capability into resending emails to unintended recipients. For instance, a password reset email could be redirected to an attacker's email address, potentially resulting in account takeovers.
