Summary

CVE-2023-31582 is a vulnerability affecting the jose4j library before version 0.9.3. This issue permits attackers to set a iterations count of 1000 or fewer during RSA key pair generation. This can result in weaker encryption keys and increased risk of successful man-in-the-middle attacks, undermining the security of communication channels that rely on jose4j for encryption. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability to gain unauthorized access to sensitive information. Users are strongly advised to upgrade to version 0.9.3 or later to mitigate this risk.
