Summary

CVE-2023-31580 is a vulnerability affecting the light-oauth2 library before version 2.1.27. The issue permits attackers to authenticate to the application with a crafted JWT token, as the library fails to verify public keys prior to authentication. This could potentially lead to unauthorized access and data breaches. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability by generating and signing malicious JWT tokens with invalid public keys, allowing them to bypass the authentication process and gain unauthorized access to protected resources. To mitigate this risk, it is recommended to upgrade to the latest version of light-oauth2 as soon as possible.
