Summary

CVE-2023-31422 is a vulnerability affecting Kibana version 8.10.0. In certain logging scenarios, Kibana records sensitive information in error logs. This issue arises when logging in JSON layout or configuring the pattern layout to log the %meta pattern. Elastic has released an updated version (8.10.1) to address this issue. The logs contain error objects that can reveal sensitive data, including authentication credentials, cookies, authorization headers, query parameters, request paths, and other metadata. Examples of sensitive data that may be included are account credentials for kibana_system, kibana-metricbeat, and Kibana end-users.
