Summary

CVE-2023-29178 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting Fortinet FortiProxy versions 7.2.0 through 7.2.3 and before 7.0.9, as well as FortiOS versions 7.2.0 through 7.2.4 and before 7.0.11. This issue involves an access of uninitialized pointer (CWE-824), which allows an authenticated attacker to repeatedly crash the httpsd process. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted HTTP or HTTPS requests. The vulnerability poses a significant risk, as the repeated crashing of the httpsd process could lead to denial-of-service conditions and potential unauthorized access. Fortinet strongly advises users to upgrade to the latest versions of FortiProxy and FortiOS to mitigate this risk.
