Summary

CVE-2023-2079 is a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability affecting the "Buy Me a Coffee – Button and Widget Plugin" for WordPress. This issue, present in versions up to and including 3.7, stems from the lack of nonce validation on several functions: recieve_post, bmc_disconnect, name_post, and widget_post. Unauthenticated attackers can leverage this vulnerability to manipulate the plugin's settings by tricking a site's administrator into performing an action, such as clicking on a malicious link, thereby causing unintended and potentially harmful modifications to the plugin's configuration.
