Summary

CVE-2023-20247 is a vulnerability affecting the remote access SSL VPN feature of Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software and Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) Software. An authenticated attacker can exploit this issue by sending crafted requests during VPN session establishment. This allows the attacker to bypass a configured multiple certificate authentication policy and connect using only a valid username and password. The vulnerability arises from improper error handling during remote access VPN authentication. Successful exploitation could grant the attacker access to the network while retaining the privileges and permissions associated with the original connection profile.
