Summary

CVE-2023-20235 is a vulnerability in the on-device application development workflow feature of Cisco IOS XE Software's Cisco IOx application hosting infrastructure. This issue allows authenticated, remote attackers to gain root access to the underlying operating system on an affected device. The vulnerability arises due to the lack of blocking for Docker containers with the privileged runtime option while in application development mode. Attackers can exploit this flaw using the Docker CLI, and the application development workflow is intended for use only on development systems, not in production environments.
