Summary

CVE-2023-20210 is a vulnerability affecting Cisco BroadWorks that allows authenticated, local attackers to elevate privileges to the root user on an affected device. This vulnerability arises due to insufficient input validation in the operating system CLI. An adversary can exploit this flaw by issuing a specially crafted command, gaining the ability to execute root-level commands on the targeted system. Prerequisite for a successful attack is the possession of valid BroadWorks administrative privileges on the affected device.
