Summary

CVE-2023-20086 is a recently disclosed vulnerability affecting Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software and Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) Software. The issue stems from improper ICMPv6 message processing, which can lead to a denial of service (DoS) condition. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending specially crafted ICMPv6 messages to a targeted Cisco ASA or FTD system with IPv6 enabled. Successful exploitation may cause the device to reload, resulting in a DoS condition. Network administrators are urged to apply the available patch or upgrade to mitigate this risk.
