Summary

CVE-2023-20048 is a vulnerability affecting the web services interface of Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC) Software. It allows authenticated, remote attackers to execute unauthorized configuration commands on Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) devices managed by the FMC Software. The issue stems from insufficient authorization of configuration commands sent through the web service interface. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by authenticating to the FMC web services interface and sending a specially crafted HTTP request to an FTD device. Successful exploitation could enable the attacker to execute certain configuration commands on the targeted FTD device, requiring valid credentials on the FMC Software to do so.
