Summary

CVE-2023-0972 is a stack buffer overflow vulnerability affecting SiLabs Z/IP Gateway version 7.18.01 and earlier. An unauthenticated attacker within Z-Wave range can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code on the gateway. The vulnerability occurs due to insufficient input validation, enabling an attacker to overwrite memory beyond the intended buffer boundaries. Successful exploitation could result in significant security implications, including potential gateway compromise and unauthorized network access. It is recommended that users upgrade to the latest SiLabs Z/IP Gateway software version to mitigate this risk.
