Summary

CVE-2021-4396 is a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability affecting the Rucy plugin for WordPress. Versions up to and including 0.4.4 of the plugin are susceptible to this issue. The root cause of the problem lies in the lack of proper nonce validation on the save_rc_post_meta() function. As a result, unauthenticated attackers can manipulate post meta data through forged requests, provided they can persuade a site administrator to take a specific action, such as clicking on a malicious link. This poses a serious security risk and should be addressed by updating the Rucy plugin to a versions beyond 0.4.4 to mitigate the CVE-2021-4396 vulnerability.
