Summary

CVE-2018-13379 is a path traversal vulnerability affecting Fortinet FortiOS 6.0.0 to 6.0.4, 5.6.3 to 5.6.7, and 5.4.6 to 5.4.12, as well as FortiProxy 1.0.0 to 1.0.7 and 1.1.0 to 1.1.6, and 1.2.0 to 1.2.8, under the SSL VPN web portal. Unauthenticated attackers can exploit this issue by sending crafted HTTP resource requests, allowing them to download sensitive system files. The vulnerability is caused by an improper limitation of a pathname to a restricted directory, posing a significant risk for information disclosure. Fortinet strongly advises users to update their systems to the latest patched versions to mitigate this threat.
