Summary
CVE-2000-0316 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting Solaris 7's lp (line printer) service. Maliciously crafted input to the -d option can cause the buffer to overflow, leading to arbitrary code execution. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability allows local users to gain root privileges, posing a significant security risk. This issue has been resolved in later Solaris versions. Users of Solaris 7 are strongly advised to apply the available patch.
