Summary
CVE-2000-0216 is a vulnerability affecting Microsoft email clients in Outlook, Exchange, and Windows Messaging. This issue arises due to the automatic response to Read Receipt and Delivery Receipt tags. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by forging a Read Receipt request that is redirected to a large distribution list. Consequently, the mail system is flooded with responses, leading to denial-of-service conditions and potential network congestion. Microsoft recommended disabling the automatic processing of such tags as a workaround.
