Summary
CVE-1999-1577 is a significant buffer overflow vulnerability affecting the HHOpen ActiveX control (hhopen.ocx) version 1.0.0.1 used in Internet Explorer 4.01 and 5. This issue arises due to a flaw in the OpenHelp method, which can be exploited by remote attackers. By supplying overly long arguments, they can trigger the buffer overflow and execute arbitrary commands, potentially leading to system compromise.
