Summary

CVE-1999-1512 is a vulnerability affecting the AMaViS virus scanner version 0.2.0-pre4 and earlier. This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands with root privileges by inserting shell metacharacters in the reply-to field of an infected email message. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a malicious email, potentially leading to serious compromise of the affected system.
