Summary

CVE-1999-1421 represents a vulnerability in NBase switches NH208 and NH215. The issue arises due to the presence of a TFTP (Trivial File Transfer Protocol) server on these devices. An attacker can exploit this weakness by sending software updates to the server, allowing them to modify the switch configuration or cause a denial of service (crash). The attacker only needs to guess the target filenames, which have default names, to execute the attack.
