Summary

CVE-1999-1393 is a vulnerability affecting Apple Powerbooks. The control panel's "Password Security" option, intended to protect the machine from unauthorized access, can be bypassed by attackers with physical access. By booting the machine with an emergency startup disk and using a disk editor, they can modify the on/off toggle or password in the aaaaaaaAPWD file, which is typically inaccessible. This bypass exposes the system to potential security threats.
