Summary
CVE-1999-1339 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting Linux 2.2.10 and earlier versions, as well as FreeBSD 3.2, when Network Address Translation (NAT) is enabled with ipchains or ipfw. A carefully crafted ping -R (record route) command can trigger a kernel panic, resulting in a service outage. This issue was discovered in 1999 and poses a significant concern for networks using vulnerable configurations.
