Summary
CVE-1999-1290 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting the nftp FTP client version 1.40. Malicious FTP servers can exploit this issue by sending overly long response strings, leading to a denial of service condition. Additionally, attackers may be able to execute arbitrary commands by successfully exploiting this vulnerability. This weakness poses a significant risk to systems running the vulnerable version of the nftp FTP client.
