Summary
CVE-1999-1183 is a vulnerability affecting the System Manager sysmgr GUI in SGI IRIX 6.4 and 6.3. An attacker can exploit this weakness by creating a malicious runtask or runexec descriptor file and providing it to a user with a Mailcap entry supporting the x-sgi-task or x-sgi-exec type. Successful exploitation allows the attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the targeted system remotely. This vulnerability poses a significant risk to systems running the affected IRIX versions and should be addressed promptly by applying available patches or updates.
