Summary
CVE-1999-0874 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting Internet Information Services (IIS) 4.0. Maliciously crafted requests for files with .HTR, .IDC, or .STM extensions can trigger the buffer overflow, leading to a denial of service. Attackers can exploit this issue to cause crashes or consume system resources, potentially making the affected server unresponsive to legitimate traffic. This vulnerability poses a significant threat to IIS 4.0 servers that have not been patched, as it can be easily exploited remotely.
